Section 03.1.1 First Playthrough IntermissionĪfter clearing the game and making a clear save (your save data will be red). You should also work on earning (or working towards) the non-story/mission trophies, most of which will be earned by the time this playthrough is over. Even if this is your first time playing, go ahead and attempt a playthrough without a single alert it's not as hard as it sounds. When starting the game be sure to have your radar on and select the "Tanker-Plant" scenario. Whether you're new to the game or have played it extensively over the years, go ahead and start on the easiest difficulty to get a feel of the game. Section 03.1 - First Playthrough (Very Easy) If you do not make a save and miss the trophy you will have to go all the way through the Plant scenario again. Be absolutely sure to make a save point when Raiden starts his sword fight with Solidus. There is a missable trophy right at the end of the game. If you want to get all the Dog Tags in the Tanker Chapter in one go, you will have to get your grip gauge to Level 2 before entering the holds where Metal Gear Ray is stored. But on the higher difficulties you will have to log in at every console to have a radar display. One thing to keep in mind for each playthrough is you can play the game with the radar on at all times. But if you can complete the story on all difficulties, they should be easy enough to get past. They offer their own unique challenges, some harder than others. On top of your five playthroughs you will also be tasked with completing extra missions. There are a minimum of 5 difficulty levels and this is why you will need to play through the game at least 5 times. Luckily earning the highest title "Big Boss" is not a requirement, but there are still plenty of challenges to complete on your path to the platinum the hardest of which will be collecting every dog tag in the entire game across all difficulty levels. Achieving the platinum isn't too difficult as much as it is time consuming.
The game is also where Raiden first makes his appearance and most of the game is spent playing as him, though you do start out as Solid Snake.
